Read Along #4 and Giveaway: In Darkness We Must Abide

The Gift (In Darkness We Must Abide, #4)
The Gift
In Darkness We Must Abide #4
by Rhiannon Frater

With the arrival of the new vampires, Vanora's life has once more been changed forever. The only mortal among the undead, she feels like an outsider in her own home. As her seventeenth birthday approaches, she struggles not only with her deepening feelings for Armando, but also her own burgeoning powers.
Synopsis from Goodreads

This was my favorite episode so far, but I feel that the next one is going to be UBER EPIC! The pressure is building, and it's gotta blow at some point! The thing that blows my mind, though, is that there is a little blurb at the end that explains that the next episode will be the finale of season 1. O_O You mean... I'll have to wait even longer for season 2??? I don't know if my heart can handle this... Hopefully we won't have to wait until next year, like with TV shows.

In this episode, Vanora finds herself with a foot in each world. While the world of light, of mortals, is calling to her in the form of college, her uncle's family and her best friend, the world of darkness is not quite ready to release its grasp on her. Vanora is growing in strength and I think she's going to need it.

I want to offer up my usual warning: May contain mild spoilers!

So, the gift. As if Armando wasn't hot enough, the whole scene where he gives Vanora his "gift". *sighs* And what do we think of the actual gift? How will it play in the future plot? I have a feeling that it will play a large role in keeping her safe.

Does anyone have a problem with their age difference? Alisha and Roman are concerned by their actual age (400 year old vamp and a teenager) Physically, though, he is an eternally hot 22 year old stud, while Vanora is just beginning to catch up to him. At this point, she has just turned 17. I remember when I was her age. I damn sure wouldn't have had a problem with it! Now? No, I still don't see the issue. She's old enough to know what she's getting into. Except that she really doesn't know, does she? Armando is not who he seems.

Who is Armando, really? I get the impression that he has an actual attraction to Vanora, but there's a small part of me that believes he may betray her. I've heard that episode 5 is absolutely heart wrenching, so my brain is working double time, speculating how this is going to crush me.

Damn you, Rhiannon Frater! Your characters are taking up entirely too much space in my brain!
On the flip side, Thank you, Rhiannon Frater, for making your characters so addictive. <3
